Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan to Call for an End to the VA Backlog on Capitol Hill
The Congress and the Country Stands with New Veterans to Get the Benefits They Earned

This week, on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq war, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America membership has been working around the clock in Washington, D.C., and in their local communities to tackle the Department of Veterans Affairs disability benefits backlog. Almost 900,000 veterans are waiting for their disability benefits to be processed, and 70 percent of them have been waiting more than 125 days. On average, veterans wait 273 days for their benefits; in cities like New York and Los Angeles, they are waiting more than 600 days. IAVA is calling on President Obama to end the VA backlog once and for all. These veterans fought for us overseas; they should not be fighting for care here at home.
